This may be overly pedantic, but I think free speech and the "right to an audience" are two different things. As long as the algorithm does not delete your posts and it can be seen if people look you up, you still have freedom of speech.

To me the right to an audience is not something that is universal. Hate speeches don't deserve an audience to hear it for example. As far as I'm concerned, say what you want, but that doesn't mean people have to hear about it.

Also platforms should be careful in suppressing speech to. Attention should be given to whether their speech harms people, and if does, is that a bad thing? Calling out wrongdoing can harm people, but it's a good thing. Using slurs to hurt people isn't.

I agree with you that Fedi does a decent job at this, since individuals have control on what kind of content they want to see. Though you can surround yourself with and spew hate, decent folks can just not listen to you.
