Even pro-capitalist folks should be able to recognize that the free market doesn't work in all cases. For instance, when the only way to 'compete' is by screwing over your customers, maybe it's time to try a different system.

Insurance most obviously fits into this category, and I think public utilities are similar (like the UK's privatized sewage disaster).

@FantasticalEconomics @aral Capitalism should be constraint to discretionary purchases, which do not affect your ability to survive. Obviously this leaves a very small "market".

@FantasticalEconomics To a normal person, market is a scarcity management tool - with its own upsides, downsides and applicability constraints.

To a capitalist? It's Religion. It's the Invisible Hand. It's God. It's Ether. It's The Absolute.
