To put them in context, they're circled in red in this picture of the overall garden.

A larger garden with areas of thyme and other low growingrr plants, surrounded by gray rocks. A tiny red circle indicates where the acorn characters are standing.

They're ephemeral. By this afternoon, one had been dismembered by squirrels. And taking a picture of its remains, I'm noticing even more detail that she put into them. The red boots made of leaves! I was resigned to letting nature take its course, but when my husband got home, he brought the survivors in to keep them safe overnight. I guess we'll rearrange them each morning.

The remains of one of the characters. The acorn body and head are gone. All that remains are the twig legs, which are wrapped in red leaves that makes little boots.
