Gregory's Server@econads @paddyduke NSW definitely has hardcopy licenses and I prefer it, not least because it removes the temptation to hand an unlocked phone to a police officer.
(your implied right not to give NSW Police full access is very vague at the best of times, but why make it easy)

There is a big fuss in the UK right now because they want to move to pure electronic visas, which will be a problem if computer says no and people can't prove their right to be in the country.
