 So, the news is, Every Door got the @NGIZero grant! The scope of work hasn't been agreed upon yet, but the plan is: 1. Customization. This thing: https://en.osm.town/@everydoor/112445184108066938 . Will change the landscape of surveying for sure. 2. Vector tiles and better caching. Means, smaller tile downloads and predictable offline work. 3. Documentation — both for users and for developers. Video tutorials, texts, everything to make it easier to edit and modify code. 6 comments
 @everydoor As someone who routinely organizes mapping parties (at which Every Door has been our go-to, mainly because of cross-platform support), vector maps sound great! The current situation with raster tiles and aerial imagery creates confusion for beginners on plenty of occasions. @everydoor I also hope Every Door starts supporting `addr:block`, `addr:suburb`, and custom `addr:place` values, so it becomes viable for collecting addresses in India. Currently, all our address mapping is restricted to Vespucci users. @contrapunctus Yeah sorry about that. For the past 1.5 years the releases were mostly prepared in 2-3 weekend evenings, so nothing that needed thought was implemented. Hopefully with this grant I will have time to also work on such tickets.  |
