@paul @geerlingguy those I2C displays cost basically nothing (around 1USD in the BOM). you could just make the case a bit smaller.

@adorfer @paul to add to it; the display is handy for seeing the IP, but they definitely went overboard. Luckily doesn't seem like it hit the price too hard.

They may make another version with PoE and better for rack mount use at some point too. I'll be 3D printing a mounting adapter I think.

This is $69 plus shipping on Kickstarter (caveats about crowdfunding apply...), hope they keep it under $99 after the kickstarter!

@geerlingguy @adorfer just bugs me to have a display on a device whose main purpose is access to computers you aren't physically near.

Be cool if they make a version with AC power control for us crazy Macs as servers folks.

@paul they will have a DC power breakout for controlling mini PCs with barrel jacks... of course that's not us Mac folks :(

For that I have a Zigbee smart outlet and Home Assistant—bonus I can monitor power consumption too!

@geerlingguy Tasmota here which lets me also run a watchdog script to auto-reboot if the Mac can't be pinged. But to be honest I'd rather have an all in one solution, just seems cleaner and probably less likely to fail.
