@siosm @eibriel Honestly, for me this reason makes no sense at all.

They argue that they can't add all instances in existence. But they are not suppose to limit the URL in the first place.

@siosm @eibriel The only argument to limit them is if they want to avoid external links to untrusted sources, but since you are allowed to add your custom website url just a few pixels above the social links, this makes no sense either.

This is not a good reason. It is trivial to check whether something is a Mastodon/ActivityPub actor URL on the backend
