Happy 10th Anniversary to this absolute legend, Wondermark #1062; The Terrible Sea Lion

Look, be reasonable. If sea lions were considerate of others, they would not grow so much blubber, have fine fur and be so slow on land. Their inconsiderate "feelings" impact others right to oil, furs and ability to dispose of toxins far away from humans. I get why sealioning is bad, but in the context of the comic it seems like an autist trying to get an apology. @EdCates Has it only been 10 years? I would've guessed 20 for as long as the phenomenon has been around. @opalmirror @EdCates I would image so! I was like 7 at the time and we didn't have a computer, so I'll take your word on Usenet, because people have been awful forever. I was referring to the comic itself being only 10, but time is meaningless and both creeps and flashes by. @shadyspotlight @EdCates We didn't call them sea lions at that time... The sea lion comic perfectly explained the problem of these exhaustive trolls though and the name stuck.... definitely moved online life forward by naming the behavior. @EdCates so THAT's what sea lion meant! Jesus, we sometimes use such obscure references... @schratze @EdCates For people, who make public statements out of thin air, sea lions are for sure annoying. On the other hand, with people, whose statement are founded in something, the comic ends before the second row. Maybe the sealion in the comic is an asshole, but the other guy is a much bigger one. Edit: typo I could do without the people who make me feel old by mentioning how old comics are... |
@EdCates I forgot that the comic is actually about a sea lion defending their right to exist.
