One of your favorite alternatives to one of Microsoft's most popular products will probably change its name over the next 24 hours. We're super excited about it.

Stay tuned!

@Codeberg I have to sleep, please tell me now 😬

Daphne Preston-Kendal

@Codeberg Why? I am not looking forward to telling everyone in my community ‘oh, we were on Codeberg, but they changed their name and now we’re on [whatever new name you’ve come up with]’

@Codeberg
Are you launching a distro based on Ubuntu or something, then?

@Codeberg soo... the merger hasn't been cancelled after all? 🥺

hexaheximal

@Codeberg I don't think that makes any sense to be honest. That will just create more problems for everyone.

ashwinvis has not

@Codeberg
What a cliff hanger!

Here's 5 internet cents that you have come up with a new name for the "pull-request" just like Gitlab called it a "merge-request".

Codeberg.org

@ashwinvis We actually considered that from time to time. codeberg.org/forgejo/discussio mentions this, for example. ~f

@Codeberg "one of Microsoft's most popular products" is it the Zune? is OpenZune renaming to LibreZune?

@Codeberg Changing the name of Forgejo? I wouldn't be sad because I'm never sure if I'm pronouncing it right? 😅

Peaksol

@Codeberg So many thought it was Codeberg that would change its name XD

@Codeberg "LettuceForge" is available, just saying. /s

@Codeberg
One of Microsofts most popular products - that narrows it down to Outlook, Excel or Powerpoint. Surely it can't be Flight Simulator.

An open source alternative... Must be Thunderbird.

@Codeberg Gitlab are going to change their brand, I guess

SagXD

@Codeberg I love "Codeberg". Why are you guys changing?

A2 Engineering Services

@Codeberg I have recently moved all my important repositories from Github to Codeberg. I hope your changes go well.

Oops, sorry for the confusion! We were actually talking about Luanti (formerly known as Minetest)!

We wish the @Minetest team all the best with its rebranding effort: blog.minetest.net/2024/10/13/I

For better or worse, we will stick to our established names for Codeberg and Forgejo.

LinuxUserGD

@Codeberg @Minetest So they are moving from mining to antificial intelligence?

hexaheximal

@Codeberg @Minetest Now that I've seen the actual change... this is pretty cool!

I was definitely not expecting it to have been Minetest rebranding, but I do agree that it has been overdue for a rebranding since forever ago.
