Pixelfed <> Solo

I've been working on a @pixelfed side project called Solo

Solo is a single user, slimmed down and simple, (federated) photo sharing platform.

Simply drag n drop your pics and let Solo guide you through the compose process!

Solo aims to provide the best photography federated platform while allowing you to curate features you want from Pixelfed.

Pixelfed users will be able to setup and maintain a synced Solo site, allowing you even more control over your presence, anywhere ✨

@dansup @pixelfed Oh I thought the project was dead, since I didn't hear anything about it since the announced release one year ago

Glad to hear it's still a thing, because I'm very interested

So that sounds great. Will it be a Hi Def photosite for also
+10mb a photo with all RAW, possibilities and HEIF, HEIC, WebP & AVIF, or do we have to compress again to get it uploaded?

I'm exited already!

@NiemPseu @pixelfed There will be no limits, so yes! Solo will try to transcode formats to jpeg but you will have the ability to render the media in your preferred format (and there will be no image optimization, what you upload is what is served)

@dansup @pixelfed where are you hosting the source code? I would like to get involved and support this.

Hi @dansup @pixelfed,
awesome! Single user gives unique properties and finally keeps the promise of #sovereignty most have as a lip service. Be sure to have a look at the venerable #CGI (RFC3875) deployment option for unprivileged (non-root) users to long-term operate stuff for themselves.

Seppo.Social does that and it's astonishing. A taste of #permacomputing.

@dansup @pixelfed great to hear it. ease of use/UX design is the biggest issue preventing most users to adopt the fediverse.

@dansup @pixelfed this sounds exciting. I briefly looked at running my own pixelfed insurance but thought it'd be too heavyweight to run alongside Mastodon on my VPS, this could slot in nicely though.
