@davidgerard I think there is something inaccurate in the article. WordPress not limit access to their open source resources. They limited access to their repositories of plugins, themes and updates.

I understand that the code is still accessible and WP-Engine could work a bit to make their own repositories and not keep using Automattic's without giving anything in return.

That said, it would be pretty funny if WP Engine set up their own open repositories and everyone Mullenweg has annoyed jumped ship to WP Engine's repositories.
