@aral@vincib I signed it, but in France even parliamentary election results have no effect, so I can understand people not thinking that petitions will have any effect.

Indeed. The recent elections and subsequent farce in forming a new government have highlighted the need for reform of the constitution (and probably the electoral system, too).
