Converse shoes are not made to last, but I really love wearing them. I don't want to buy them new, but so far I keep finding some at the thrift store!

Found this lovely pair yesterday for 4$. Just gave them a bath(soles were dirty) and now they're as good as new ^_____^!

a black pair of converse shoes laying in the cockpit of a sailboat, the shoes are slightly worn but look good.

@rek @alex hahahah, is it because of the surface area?

R E K

@changbai @alex white soles, doesn't stain the deck :cooldog:

@rek I feel like my feet were made to destroy Converse shoes. But man are they iconic! Love wearing them, even if they don’t love being worn by me.

R E K

@ZhangBenKong Converse are just shit now, not sure your feet are to blame.

@rek Pretty neat for 4! Nowadays I just buy pairs of Victoria (Spanish clones made here), which are great.

R E K

@tagomago do the Victorias last? I see some clones here for sale too, but honestly they look/feel as cheap as Converse shoes.

Tagomago

@rek Yes, they last longer than the Converses (thicker toes), but canvas and rubber are not the most durable materials if you use them daily like me. I even go to the gym with them... 😅

Cory

@rek I was lucky that mine lasted 10 years though towards the end I could only wear them in dry weather due to the glue failing near the toes

R E K

@drisc whoa, don't think I ever got 10 years out of any pair I've owned (even new pairs).

@rek Nice find! Last I counted, I've destroyed >15 pairs of Converse. Nearly all were thrifted or deeply discounted overstock.

R E K

@bee Amazing :D! Never thought to count how many pairs I've gone through!

Glad that I found a pair of high-tops, my last few pairs weren't :>. Also for some reason I could only find white-canvassed pairs, which is fine, but they get dirty so fast >_<...
