This took so much time to do!
We used Zepto 8, a #pico8 emulator and improved on it a lot until there were no differences with the official Pico 8 version, and we ported it on Switch
To my knowledge, it's the first Pico 8 game to run on Switch, there was Celeste Classic, yes, but it had been completely remade in C#
When I say we, I am talking about Potico, a tiny company I launched with two friends, and we hope to make more Pico 8 games available on Switch in the future!

@nusan neat - why did you stick to the pico8 environment instead of using something similar, say using love2d or other frameworks?
I understand the appeal of a custom game engine, but not sure about the positive aspects of mimicking pico8 limits.

@fsouchu well this is an emulator, so the goal is to fit Pico 8 as much as possible, with a few added things. Using love2D would mean not making a Pico 8 game. Right now, Zebulon is both a pico 8 cartridge you can play in official Pico 8, and a game on Steam and Switch that handle achievements and a wide screen mode

@fsouchu then there is the question of why I keep making Pico 8 games at all, well I find it fun, it limits scope a lot, and that's great when you are making tiny games by yourself. And also, I love the all-in-one aspect of Pico 8, making everything in a cosy environnement
Do you still make Pico 8 stuff yourself?

@nusan after Demi Daggers, I moved to #playdate - similar problem space but vastly different solutions & game scope.

May come back to pico8 or picotron at some point…

@nusan ok - if the goal is to keep pico8 as a platform, makes sense (sort of 😜)

@nusan this is sooo awesome! Again GG!

Ps: This will be the next game I play on switch for sure
