Anyone wanna link me to a thoughtful podcast or debate or whatever on Israel/Palestine.

(Snarky rejoinders less appreciated than sharing the thing requested)

@ZachWeinersmith The Dig has been doing a great primer series on 20th century Arab politics that goes into it a bit: thedigradio.com/Thawra/

I think Norm Finkelstein is something worth listening to

@ZachWeinersmith if you do find a good one please post it! Would love one too.

This struck me as a particularly brave and important conversation between a Palestinian and an Israeli who care about each other, agonisingly trying to reach some common understanding from wildly different perspectives.

Important because, after all, we don't make peace with those who already see things the same way. It can only be made with our 'enemies', through these kinds of conversations:

@groenendael @ZachWeinersmith seconding this one, he admits it's a very basic overview but imo he does a good job providing context for his most important points.

There's a more recent Non-Zero one that's also good, but I think it's still behind the paywall

@ZachWeinersmith John Oliver did a very nice episode on it

@ZachWeinersmith Fordham University has a three part history of Israel and Palestine, with an Arab scholar (of Lebanese descent) and a Jewish American scholar.

The Ezra Klein Podcast has been my favorite for thoughtful, not-completely-one-sided discussion of Israel:

I recall this EconTalk episode being a good (if meandering) discussion, specifically re the difficulty reconciling each sides' notion of the truth:

Finally, here's one from Destiny - it's rather heated, but very chill compared to most of his debates, and it focuses on the legal details of Israel's actions; it's more nuanced than almost every other similar discussion I've seen:

@ZachWeinersmith if you don't need it to be audio/video (though he has clipped videos from elsewhere), the following blog post by documentarian Adam Curtis is well worth reading: bbc.co.uk/blogs/adamcurtis/ent

@ZachWeinersmith https://guerillahistory.libsyn.com has been doing great episodes since october 7. They have done episodes on indigeneity, apartheid, colonialism aspects in detail. Hosts and the guests are mostly history scholars.

@ZachWeinersmith Some More News is informative and entertaining, although their take was more pointedly about genocide denialism: youtube.com/watch?v=LrGlRax9Ai

If you want analysis of current events that often includes historical context, the Majority Report podcast/youtube is good.

They cover Israel/Palestine quite a bit these days since the most recent stage of the genocide began last year.

If you really know nothing about Israel or Palestine, ypu might be best served going back to their podcasts/videos starting last year or so.
