The dunking will continue until morale improves.
(When people eventually find something to fill the Mozilla sized hole in their hearts...)

In all seriousness though, a Mastodon instance is the least of the problems, that's the icing on the cake

‍eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

@BrodieOnLinux I still don't get what the deal with the mastodon instance is, other than it closing, but like that's pretty standard, and it's not hard to move to somewhere else.

Personally I think there are a lot of good people at Mozilla, but the company seriously needs to improve. I'm pretty sure their CEO is still getting paid insane amounts, that doesn't help. But that's probably because of the board, and so in all honesty they probably need a whole change of leadership.

@kdj8 Everyone I've personally interacted with at Mozilla has been wonderful. But it's death by 1000 cuts, all these little things have built up over time and I guess this is where people decide to get angry

TgxxNitro

@BrodieOnLinux @kdj8 damn, if only the workers had a say in how the company was run.

@BrodieOnLinux I still recommend Firefox to people but man it keeps getting harder and harder to to support Mozilla rn...

If they're privacy-conscious, then Librewolf might be a better recommendation. They have more hardened defaults and strip out most (all?) phone-home behavior.

My threat model does not require something as extensive as Librewolf but if I were to choose a project then I would rather pick Mullvad Browser as per PrivacyGuides recommendations (privacyguides.org/en/desktop-b).

My main gripe with web browsing isn't really privacy (even though that is a major part of it) but rather the Chromium/Blink monopoly of the web, which is why I still recommend Firefox despite all the controversy.

@BrodieOnLinux I've fully noticed since 2019. And pieces of this a few years before.

Now Mozilla is REALLY in for it now! 😬

Less A.I., more Firefox and Thunderbird! 🙄

Boiling Steam

@BrodieOnLinux is it bad to mention again when they fuck up?
