@alexadeswift @marius My Arch Lappy (1/4 of my Arch devices) is a 2013 MacBook Pro πππ» @codeofamor @marius Great way to give new life to old but otherwise perfectly serviceable devices π @alexadeswift @marius Exactly. Old by BLOATED software standards. Works great for reasonable experts. @codeofamor @marius after my batteries completely people were telling me to throw it away and by βsomething newer and betterβ! I have since replaced the battery, put new shells on the outside to smarten it up, installed a privacy screen on it, installed the latest LMDE (it canβt even run the latest MacOS) and added a 512Gb microSD and another 512Gb USB SSD drive. Why spend over a thousand Euro when the above probably only came to a couple of hundred over months? @alexadeswift @marius I'm ALL about upcycling, reuse, and good custodianship of the resources around me. @alexadeswift @marius Actually, I was surprised at how well this super basic HP cheap chromebook-esque thing runs Hyprland. Just don't try to open a web browser and it's great! π @alexadeswift @marius At this point I'm just pulling the DOOM question on everything I can. "Can it run Arch? Let's see...." |
@codeofamor @marius I enjoy my LMDE laptop too, which is a bit unusual in being a 2017 MacBook Air π»
