"Contrary to prior expectations, it turned out that just by cleaning the air in daycare centers, children's illnesses could be reduced by as much as 18.2 percent. The age and gender of the children had no effect on the number of infections.
According to E3 Pandemic Response project research doctor Enni Sanmarki, the result challenges the long-held notion that diseases in kindergartens are spread mainly through droplets and contact."

"When we achieve such a large reduction just by cleaning the air, we can show that a fairly significant proportion of diseases are actually spread through the air. This provides us with a route to fight disease that we have not exploited before."
