I'm no longer worried about what billionaires will do if we piss them off. They are already doing it. @Professor_Stevens @rbreich me neither, but everyone will need to be prepared for shit to come and why What else have they got left to add to what they're already doing? It's like when Dems want to use negative campaign material, or go on "attack," and get cold feet because they don't want to make the Republicans mad. Republicans are mad all the time. There is no "make them mad." Same with the rich. We shouldn't fear provoking them into screwing us. If you take away their money - ideally all of it, not just a tiny slice - then they'll only have $y which is much less than $x, and we'll have less trouble from them, not more.  Lower costs, too. Everything is cheaper when you do it in bulk. Low-income Americans pay fees just to have bank accounts. If they can afford to be in the stock market, they pay a higher percentage of transactions as brokerage costs. If they get paid by the hour, waiting for their appointment in the doctor's office adds to the cost of the visit. Being rich doesn't just mean you have money. It means everything costs you less than if you're not rich. @Professor_Stevens @rbreich I don't know how anyone, when they see and realize this, doesn't see how we don't have a backwards system. It's even cuter that those same people actually think that if she's elected, she will actually continue talking about this. And we're upset about it having gone from that to 21% while neglecting that the era in which MAGA considers to be the "Great" era, was anywhere between 70% and 92% tax rate for the most wealthy Americans. Pretty strange "Democracy". If the Dems sweep all branches of government they must institute significant democratic reform. MAGA is anti-democratic at its core. It is a fundamental rejection of our founding myth: majority rule, minority rights. This election decides if majority rule is possible. |
