I didn’t know how to host pictures yet, so all the backgrounds and animated pixel gifs I put on the pages were copied from other peoples’ websites. most of the pages were stories I made up, or character profile pages related to comics I was drawing. I spent the most time setting up an elaborate choose-your-own-adventure story that involved food and natural disasters.

wish I could find the website now but it’s been deleted, and the wayback machine never captured it… still it lives in my heart…

@lake Also started on freewebs! Warrior cats and wolf rp sites were my sanctuary back then, and they introduced me to the idea that websites and web pages are "places" and not just things that show you information. The website is a world, it's pages are places to be within that world, and its users are the creatures that keep that world's ecosystem alive.
Those sites are also long gone now, but that principle's left a mark on me to this day lol
