@nextgraph @rysiek ok. So why do Russian war bloggers and propagandists so upset about Durov's arrest and suggest to immediately delete all chats. Not to mention the chaos in the military (who use TG as the means for war communication). They are afraid of Pavel giving out the encryption keys/access to TG and thus TG being compromised.
If TG's only encryption is only that comes with TLS suite and it can be easily be cracked by western agencies - why the fuss?
@evildeig @rysiek Yes, why the fuss indeed. I have the same question. Group and channels are not encrypted end-to-end. DMs can be E2EE only if a special option is chosen. You are talking about russian war. so probably groups and channels. I guess they are afraid of the meta data leakage. TG servers keep the IPs of the clients. But Durov refuses to give that meta data to law enforcement. Maybe this is the reason for the arrest. but i doubt it. many other platforms behave like TG... so, who knows?
