@zzz It's more than that, you'll never get the change working in a satisfying way because older (or dissenting) servers will just keep on doing what they're doing

ActivityPub lends itself to adding features that progressively enhance, i.e. completely new things that don't rely on changing existing behaviour (though I don't think this is unique to ActivityPub and something that's true for any network)
