It really says something about the USA that a miniature kei car is "too dangerous" for public roads, but a lifted 8,000-lb pickup is just fine.

@davidzipper@mastodon.social In other words, the kei car isn't a death trap; American vehicles are murder machines. @davidzipper also, these same states are making it easier to drive side by sides, which have no safety or emissions features at all, everywhere. @davidzipper @DrTCombs You can get a golf cart that is street legal. What is the difference? @linnefaulk @davidzipper @DrTCombs I am not sure that you can. FL rules (where I think you are, where I also researched this for my father and his friend W.) doesn't by default allow them on all roads, and municipalities are allowed to ban them on some roads (and I have seen this). An fat-tired e-tricycle with rumble seat and cargo space, in contrast, is legal everywhere except limited-access highways. @davidzipper This is on the same planet that has Cybertrucks running around on it? Incredible... @davidzipper The irony: they're "too dangerous" entirely because a lifted 8,000-lb pickup is just fine, because in a collision they're going to be destroyed compared to that thing. "We exclusively use death traps here, so normal options, are death traps!" @davidzipper itโs amazing how a few press releases from the fossil fuel lobby gets such traction in the mainstream media. @davidzipper as a cyclist in Australia, I can relate. I get harassed by motorists for... riding a bike on a road. @davidzipper after safety masks have been banned in a number of US States nothing makes sense for the general safety. @davidzipper Thereโs no way this is about safety, otherwise there are so many other street-legal vehicles that would also be banned. @davidzipper Arnold always came to mind when it comes to BIG vehicles. I used to think that maybe Americans find it macho because Arnold. |
@davidzipper YEP.
