“Sir you used your Macintosh computer to find a job so we’re entitled to 30% of your salary forever” @robb I have until November to figure out how to pay my rent because of the new Patreon situation (and how Patreon continues to roll over), and I’m so glad that the era of the Apple fanboy is over. I was guilty of it at one point, too…you know when I was a literal child. It’s a relief to see people realizing the taste that made us love this stuff was made by real, amazing people that Apple refuses to even acknowledge by name wnd not automatically scream about podcasters daring to criticize it. @robb The thing I find most offensive is that they have ~$67,000,000,000 cash on hand. Money in the bank that they could spend tomorrow. That's not their total value, of course. There's a shit load more of that. This is just cold hard cash. But they need 30% of what a kind person might choose to give you or I via Patreon. Which can surely only be pocket change to them. It's a sickness. @johnnydecimal @robb That's it. But I'm afraid you can only become so financially successful if you behave like an asshole and use every opportunity, no matter how small, to collect money. Above a certain level, this is only at the expense of others. And that is very, very sad. @robb I'm surprised that everybody is so rich that they think they would have to pay 30% instead of 15%. @robb I’m one of a few Mac users at my day job—I think Apple is going to start collecting 30% of my salary. It’s absurd, but does feel like they think they’re entitled to part every transaction that passes through their devices. I also think that Apple Pay would not have taken off like it has if they had a mechanism to collect even more along the way—feels like a crazy concept that they only charge a fraction of a percent to the issuing bank and it’s somewhat hard for that to get passed along. @robb Related, I keep wondering who (as in a specific person or people) are to blame within the company? Cool is obviously letting this happen, but I don’t think *everyone* at Apple thinks this is the right play either. (I doubt it would change much, but we can at least say, “_____ is ruining Apple.” @robb @marioguzman Surprised Apple isn’t asking for 30% of my business because I use a Mac. (Actually more than one. Would it be 30% for each Mac?) |
@robb psst don’t give them any ideas!
