@buddhaha @m3tti @morganmay @mcc "Not everything is political" only works if you agree with the status quo, though. Because that's what "apolitical" is - the "default" (status quo) is good, so I don't need to think about politics. This only works, though, if you are part of the dominant group(s) in your society. If you are straight, "gay" is political while "straight" is apolitical. If you are a woman, gender becomes political.

@buddhaha @m3tti @morganmay @mcc It is easy to say that you're "apolitical" when you lie at the intersection of socially dominant groups (so in the US, that might be something like a white, straight, cis, able-bodied man). If you are non-white in the US, *your existence is political* whether you like it or not. If you are a woman in this country, your existence and your needs are political. If you are LGBTQ+, your existence is political.
