@mcc Apple pulled a similar stunt with the Orwellian “privacy preserving ad measurement”, also enabled by default without asking, yet people still think Apple is a friend of privacy:

@fazalmajid I'm kind of out of it on what Apple is doing. That's gross! Also hilarious given Apple is running billboard ads in my neighborhood claiming safari is "the actually private browser". On top of this their AI tech seems to be based on fake privacy tech also, although it's not clear to me if the Safari AI summarize is based on actually private (local) or the fake private ("private cloud") tech.
