@lfa@simon@brave presumably because Brave is a Chromium browser. So it seems plausible that this is the case for not only Chrome, but also almost every other browser because most browsers are just Chrome with extra steps 😔

Brave lets you turn this off in the extensions settings, just go in: brave://settings/extensions and disable "Hangouts" and voilà, you're done.

It would be fairly trivial to remove this from other chromium builds, but the way I see it, brave and edge etc. are about drumming up hatred of Google rather than actually making the world better. @lfa@simon@brave

That's the reason I mentioned brave, to let them know of the issue so they can take the step to prevent this.
