@sabi Technically, my first "modem" would have been a suitcase sized teletype with a thermal printer and acoustic coupler. I think it would have struggled with 110 bps.
@deeseearr@sabi I used a 300/75 baud Miniterm thermal printer / keyboard / acoustic coupler combo early on, but before that there was 45 baud 5 bit Baudot on a Creed teleprinter too. ASR-33 teletypes could change the gearing for different baud rates. I could easily type faster than 75 baud, held back by the mechanical interlocks on the keyboard which stopped pressing another key until the current key had been transmitted.
