I actually really enjoyed that, and I appreciated the linked articles that supported it. Given the histories of Carly Fiorina (Compaq/HP) and Elizabeth Holmes (Theranos), sometimes women are just as deceitful and greedy as men. Thatcher immediately comes to mine😒 Thatcher as "The Iron Lady" is such a remarkably complex character Personally, I find it's a disservice to reduce her too much. Her service to the UK and her relationship with the US is easily worth an entire encyclopedia set of essays and analysis. I'd argue she was "a necessary response at the time" to world history. I'd argue that she and Ronald Reagan truly did accelerate the fall of the Berlin Wall and the end of the Cold War as it existed then. But she is "complicated." @tayledras Given the current nutcases and narcissists running the world, I'd almost long for the idyllic world of Saint Reagan and Saintess Thatcher than the insane asylum run amok of Donald Trump. We vote not for the politicians we'd like to have, but the choices we are given and the opportunities that take us closest to our desired destination. @tayledras Reagan and Thatcher started this mess so don't wish for that again. You are correct we vote for the choices we are given and lately that is a problem. And you think Trump will create lesser messes? I cannot fathom what future historians will make of Trump's foreign policies and political actions. Most of "our" [US] current miasma is the US still "digging out from under" the policies and actions of both Bush administrations. @tayledras Where the heck did you come up with that assumption? "And you think Trump will create lesser messes?" was an actual discussion I had with my aunt this last week. None of our politicians are especially good. We don't value decent politicians or treat them very well. I like your explanation far more than mine.  @codepo8 The wandering campfire has set up camp, and already built a nice person in whose presence it can bask in the cold night. @codepo8 The AI is obviously trying to set up a backstory for how she mangled her right hand. “I set up a campfire, but oops, it was INSIDE my tent. So of course I grabbed it with my claw hand, like I did the last time I went camping. Silly me!” @codepo8 To be fair, tying those crazy boot laces with those mutated fingers takes a lot of concentration. Maybe she got distracted while building the fire.    @codepo8 Why is the campfire in the tent? Why are her hands and nostrils all fucked up?Why does life have to be like this?   @codepo8 one wonders why arctic explorers of yore did not discover this brilliant solution themselves. AI is so marvelous and it is just a shame the polar regions are melting so quickly that we will not be able to fully harness the wisdom of tent-heating with a cheerful campfire before the cold places are gone.    There's a stick growing out of her hand, too. Or maybe it's glued on. Well, I never DID like camping so this would be a good way to get to leave early if you disliked confrontation.   |
