@burgerdrome For that matter, why would you ever post your problem publicly and then refuse solutions, like you've noted on your profile? You have a lot to think about there. I'm personally a problem solver so I will try to help. Anyway, bye then.

@cohentheblue Please reflect on your assumptions

CohenTheBlue

@burgerdrome If you snub and mock me, I react. I'm not making assumptions, simply using context.

@cohentheblue If you cannot understand that there are inherent assumptions in "offering unsolicited solutions to complete strangers" then I am at a loss as how to explain this to you

@burgerdrome @cohentheblue Linux users have no sense of humour. Case in point: my own lack of that specific sense.

Aires

@ElBeeToots @burgerdrome @cohentheblue What's "sense of humour"? Is it in Nixpkgs? Or do I need to compile it? (FYI new folks: these are all questions you should ask if you're considering switching to Linux)

@burgerdrome
thank you for a truly spectacular example of this specific type of guy. sorry you had to go through it.

@burgerdrome @cohentheblue 2024: each time someone makes a public joke about computers, ads, AI or online privacy, they have unsollicited ads about Linux from serious people reacting like AIs on an ad-free social network ๐Ÿ˜น

CohenTheBlue

@ck0 @burgerdrome 1) I don't find complaining funny 2) I was hoping someone would actually read the few sentences I thought I put together rather concicely and try. Not interested, ignore and move on.

I haven't seen the Linux ads epidemic you describe, guess your feeds are very different. Before you reply "It was a joke!", you'll understand if I don't find being called AI funny. AI is the whole thing I hoped to steer people away from.

@cohentheblue @burgerdrome "Not interested, ignore and move on. "
Then apply your own advice.

@cohentheblue

it's not worth engaging with people who: complain about things being bad, without doing basic minimum things that help make things better, while also complaining about their *feelings of annoyance* with people who are trying to make things better

Evpraksia Revmira

for people who find linux shills annoying:

literally just skip the post, you can often recognize it by the first line. it's there for people who might be interested, not for you. the world doesn't revolve around you.

for your own mental health, and to avoid you dragging down a perfectly fine conversation just because you felt annoyed at something harmless and decided it's someone else's fault: *please* learn to live with the fact that the world has harmless annoyance in it

The Original Stripey Goodness

@cohentheblue @burgerdrome hoo boy we got a whiny baby here.
My dude, you decided that the facetious joke post was an invitation for you to sealion all the way in.
You're in the wrong here. Just take the L and learn from it.

Finn!

@cohentheblue @burgerdrome
I think the whole dilemma comes from the fact that you didn't understand that the post was an exaggerated parody of the current situation. Your advice is indeed unsolicited and intrusive, almost condescending. I think you have a lot to think about here. And "Anyway, bye then" is absolutely disrespectful.
