The Play Store version of termux should be removed. Although fornwall is known to the termux team the new Play Store version should be regarded as a fake version.

How did fornwall release a Play Store version with the same package name as the old Play Store version? Did the termux team not keep the signing key in place when it was disabled in Play Store?

Control over the playstore apps and the key associated with them is and has always been solely with Fornwall. The apps were also never disabled in playstore, even after vulnerabilities were disclosed: termux.dev/en/posts/general/20. At some point google disabled them though due to no updates or old target version though

I (@grimler) personally think it would have been great if Fornwall wanted to share control over domains and playstore with more devs, especially a few years ago when he no longer had time to spare for termux, but it is his choice in the end

Thanks for the background information on this. And thanks for the initial message pointing to the termux statement.
