@sleepy62 @Setok @mhoye speaking of fuel lobby, this is just in tagesschau.de/wirtschaft/verbr
climate-friendly #diesel that is 15c to 20c more expensive than "traditional"diesel. I expect in the coming few years a roll back on the EU total ban of ICE, making it for "pure ICE" while allowing plug-in hybrids IF using HVO

From now on, the new diesel fuel HVO100 is approved at the gas stations. Although the climate balance is significantly better than with conventional diesel, the new fuel also costs more. From today, the synthetic diesel fuel HVO100 may be sold freely. At the gas stations, the fuel suitable for many diesel vehicles is marketed with the addition of XTL. The ADAC expects the new fuel to be gradually introduced at the gas stations. HVO diesel can be produced, for example, from vegetable oils, vegetable and animal fats or waste materials consisting of them. The emission of fine dust, particles and nitrogen oxide is therefore significantly lower. HVO stands for Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil - hydrogenated, i.e. hydrogen-treated vegetable oil. XTL stands for the conversion of biomass, gas and other energy sources ("X") "to liquid" into liquid fuel.

@hszakher @sleepy62 @mhoye I'd argue the legislation should be worded to not specify technology, just that it most be CO2 neutral. How it achieves that doesn't really matter.

Though perhaps that is how it's worded, I'm not sure.

Though EVs do have benefits beyond that which I personally wouldn't want to give up.
