@stux great shot, I’m sure the author would love the credit

stux⚡

@llPK Couldn't find unfort :sad_cat:

I'm gonna do reverse search, maybe it turns up something

stux⚡

@laurenshof @llPK Just what i was looking for! Thank you ❤️

Axomamma

@stux You can edit your toot to include the photographer credit. It would be a lovely thing to do, because that info was provided to you seven hours ago. I just saw the photo now and assumed - wrongly - that you took the photo.

Axomamma

@stux "hoeijmakers dot net" is a website that is "launching soon."

@hoejimakers.net is perhaps a more useful credit.

But carry on!

stux⚡

@Axomamma I know but the original post is from bsky so @ won't do much good here! 😉

So not to confuse people and give the author some traffic I chose for the web adress

stux⚡

@laurenshof @llPK I just found that @robhoeijmakers is also on Mastodon 💪 Even on our very own instance :blobblush:

Iwillyeah

@stux there is something about the rigour of this that leaves me a little uneasy.

Tombies :meowcoffeespitting:

@stux@mstdn.social Couldnt be the netherlands: no bike lane :catgigglefrech:

Nazani

@stux Let me guess, there's a machine that trims the tree branches so they don't fall on the road.
Newcomers to Germany are always amazed by the van with a rotating wet brush that scrubs the kilometer markers along the roads.

@stux Everything in the Netherlands just looks so nice - even the cities. I mean, I'm sure there are not so great parts, but as a Canadian I feel like there's so much we can learn from you - ecologically, urban space design, sociologically, and whatever the word for de-car-ifying the joint would be.

Woefdram

@chriswho @stux Beware of seeing the grass on the other side of the hill as being greener.

I had more or less the same idea about Canada when I visited it 😉

Chris Who

@hans @stux It would be kind of cool if our leaders did "field trips" and just flat out stole whatever was working.

A kleptocracy everyone could support!😜

Woefdram

@chriswho @stux If we actively share that info, nobody has to steal anything. Benefit for all.

Cathedral-and-bazaar style 😎

@chriswho Bit of a tangent here, but I was impressed by Vancouver. A city of 2 million, twice the size of the biggest Dutch city, but nice, clean and very, very friendly.

But of course, as a tourist, I didn't visit the bad parts, so my view is necessarily incomplete.

And ecologically... I did a common route, so I saw Banff and Jasper, walked on the Athabasca glacier and toured several thousands of kilometers through spectacular sceneries. Nothing like that in our country.

Also had an excursion to the end of the world, I saw eagles, flocks of wapiti deer, humpback and killer whales and bears chasing salmon... I'll never forget that trip 😍

And yes, I've even looked into moving to Canada a few times. You know, just curious...

But I realise that I've only seen the nice parts, and have only spoken to the friendly people (although that seems to be the overwhelming majority). I'm sure Canada has its own challenges that I am not aware of.

@hans It does, but I spent most of my life in the Vancouver area/suburbs but a few years back moved to the Caribou in Central/Northern BC and BC is every bit as gorgeous as you might think. We have our issues, wildfires is a big new one thanks to climate change, but still feel really lucky to be here.

Woefdram

@chriswho Oh, but I certainly am aware of the forest fire problems. There were already problems with those woods when I was there, beetles who eat them and also the "regular" forest fires.

And I've followed the news in the past few years, it hasn't gotten better and may get a lot worse in decades to come.

But the challenges I meant, are the real state of the country, how society really is. I've seen a healthy, happy and friendy one, but I've only scratched the surface. Not a solid foundation for emigration plans.

There's a lot of polarisation going on in many, many western countries. I know how it is here, don't really know how it is there. Canada seems progressive enough and friendly to everyone, I like that. But it would take a lot more time to find out what's really what than one, fantastic journey.

Matt Franz

@chriswho @stux yeah, sensed that my first trip there last year. NL was highlight of trip through France, Belgium and Luxembourg

Randall Lee

@chriswho @stux if North American governments were ever as progressive as the Netherlands had been, when these human friendly urban areas were redesigned, then we would have nice things too. I say "had been" because a rightwing govt was just elected.

Ralph Paßgang

@stux
That look so unreal and real at the same time. Fascinating.

Woefdram

@stux

"Thinking of Holland,
I see broad rivers go slowly
through endless low land."

Ok, this looks like a canal and not a river, but you get the idea 😉

Woodswalked

@stux
Is that Queen Anne’s Lace?
Isn’t that invasive?

kiennah

@Woodswalked @stux I get multiple plants when searching for ‘queen Anne’s lace’, but both cows parsley (most likely, grows in many road sides here) and wild carrot are native plants in NL, so likely not invasive.

⸸Punished Venom Nova⸸

@stux why is the dotted line on the right-side shoulder of the road

DELETED

@stux Biking from west to east must be fun with the prevailing winds. From east to west maybe not so much ... 🙂

DonQuixokie

@stux It gives me a special kind of heart sickness. It's something out of my dreams.

Kevin Karhan :verified:

@stux I guess the only reason there's no #BikeLane is because it's either a #BikePath or this place has traffic counted in Minutes per Car and not Cars per Minute...

Rinra

@stux is that real scenery? HOW BEAUTIFUL THIS IS

stux⚡

@rinrabuken oh yes!

This is rather common in the north of the NL

Rinra

@stux I'm following you now, for another beautiful sceneries

Stu Duerson

@stux

They know trees, in Europe. I took this in Luxemburg, back in the 1970's.

Bc Clarity Carlton-Martin

@stux That blew my mind when i visited in 1998. There is no horizon hard to navigate

Duncan

@stux fairly sure I have driven along there.

Undead Report 💀

@stux A wonderful example of a 'vanishing point' for anyone studying art (drawing/painting/etc.) and perspective.

🇨🇦 OhOkKay

@stux
No telephone/hydro wires and posts. A photographers dream!

Riccardo Mori

@stux @cdfinder Fantastic! By looking at the thumbnail only, at first they looked like 2 juxtaposed photos. Perspective FTW!!

dorker

@stux engine didnt finish loading the map, hopefully devs fix it (jokes aside. nice picture!)

FamilyCyclist

@stux

1st view: four pics?
2nd: fake? Photoshop.
3: omg!

Daniel Detlaf

@stux

Too much order for me!

It's impressive in its way but everything is so straight and flat and regular. I'd go mad.

Everyday.Human Derek

@stux
That messes with my head for some reason and I typically don’t see an uncanny valley. So this perhaps is one of the best shots I have seen!🥰

Jerry 🇳🇱 🇸🇪
@stux Daar heb ik een paar jaar dagelijks gereden. Ik woonde in Weesp en werkte in Maarssen.
kazord

@stux damn good shoot, feel like unreal

ck0

@stux WHen looking at this photo, my brain feels parted

Jacket

@stux This is crazy. It's perspective drawing course one in real life.

[evil] lvl. 98 cute lesbian vampire catgirl

@stux@mstdn.social

@ChaosKitsune how did i know that this was the netherlands without reading the description? :3

Rob Hoeijmakers

@stux The photograph went viral and its authenticity was heavily debated 😀

As a web strategist it was fascinating to be in the middle of so much energy. webstrategiesblog.com/viral-ph

stux⚡

@robhoeijmakers Oh wow really! 😮

I grew up in the North of the NL and these scenes are quite "common" :blobcatgiggle: 🇳🇱

Hope you don't mind I shared your photo! I only later discovered you on Masto :mastodon:
