@tehabe @NanoRaptor When you shoot it down, you should be able to collect someone's severed finger from the boot. @NanoRaptor I always wondered if there was a name for the type of pseudo-3d scope display from that game. It's kind of a pity it never took off as a trope. @spacehobo @NanoRaptor I always marveled at the genius of this 2D projection. I haven't seen it elsewhere. @tommythorn @NanoRaptor I saw it once in an "Our Galactic Neighbourhood" poster. I think astronomers do use this projection sometimes, but haven't seen fit yet to give it a catchy name. @spacehobo @tommythorn @NanoRaptor Apparently that radar scope was a late addition to Elite. David Braben said he came up with it when tinkering when the game was supposedly fiinshed - two weeks before duplication. https://www.gamespot.com/articles/how-elite-took-flight/1100-6301740/ @semiprime @spacehobo @tommythorn @NanoRaptor It was a superb UI (UX?) design, it allowed me to completely visualise the real-time 3D environment I was flying in without any difficulty. It utterly blew my mind at the time. @NanoRaptor@bitbang.social This is plenty more than the ten faces (or 18 triangles) Cybertruck has @NanoRaptor What’s the bounty on that space garbage? Or can I use my fuel scoops to collect its exploded scrap? @NanoRaptor please make an addendum for the manual as well. PLEEEEEASE! #retrogaming #cybertruck @NanoRaptor There are very few vehicles that Elite could represent photorealistically. @NanoRaptor I would totally drive a wheeled Cobra MKIII. (if I had a driver's license. :P ) @NanoRaptor And now I have the game music stuck in my head! 🎵 @NanoRaptor This is a really serious insult toone of the best games ever programmed. An hilarious one, being honest. @NanoRaptor ::Presses m:: Overkill, I know. A quick burst with a pulse laser would do it. @NanoRaptor I think that one should be manned by one specific person when it's launched (into the sun) @NanoRaptor the one 15 year old me playing Elite on my Amstrad thanks you for the big laugh @NanoRaptor So what kind of megawattage does the ship equipped laser have? You know, for removing navigational hazards like the one depicted here. @NanoRaptor "This is Commander Jameson, en route to Lave Station. There is an unexpected item in the bagging area. Please wait for assistance." |
@NanoRaptor Do you accept the mission @markmoxon Y/N?
