My dream is for computers to not download huge SDK packages when not explicitly asked to do it :) @iliazeus Let’s put it this way: I’d prefer if computer treated everything I do as if I am right rather than treating it as if I am wrong @iliazeus > to not download huge SDK packages I also think this argument lost its power a while ago. Nobody cares about download sizes anymore. There are websites that download more on first visit than JVM total size @nikitonsky a JDK package is 300 MB (compressed) in my distro: https://archlinux.org/packages/extra/x86_64/jdk21-openjdk/ I doubt even web apps download _that_ much on first visit (I'll be very sad if they do, at least) @nikitonsky Their licensing model is crazy. You pay for each company employee if you use Oracle Java. |
This is one reason why I avoid command-line software as much as possible
