like "do not federate with x software" is the sort of thing that sounds very easy if you are not technical, but how do you tell what software an instance is running? Do you trust the version string? do you do fingerprinting to try to work it out? Either is easily undermined (and ofc would have to be implemented as open-source, making that task even easier)
