1. You were told the truth about those pictures, yet you persisted. It doesn't matter if you intended this person to snap or not at this point.
2. Really? Public criticism means you're not getting out of this quietly and unscathed. I think, it's very effective in this regard.

2. If you truly want someone to accept your point of view, rather than publicly denying it to save face, public criticism is not a good option. What is your goal? If it's to publicly scold, then it's fine. But if it's to suggest an alternative opinion and make the person think, then it's a poor choice.
