@drewdevault I’m currently with Hover, and they haven’t pissed me off yet in five years of being registered there.

@drewdevault I don't actually get why domain registrars need to exist. Why doesn't someone create a DNS network that exists alongside the existing root servers? Registration could be run by the people rather than this sill corporations that basically take 10-20 dollars a year to add your domain to a text file they ship to someone else. Seems like something needs to do for domain registration what Let's Encrypt did for SSL

@drewdevault I've also been a happy enough customer of gandi for many, many years. I'm sure they have their problems, but I have this far been blissfully unaware of them. Note that I only use them as registrar, not for DNS hosting.

@drewdevault I’ve been fairly happy with namecheap, are there any controversies there I should be aware of? 🤔 I’ve also heard good things about NearlyFreeSpeech.NET, which might be a fine option?

@drewdevault they all suck. Porkbun is often recommended. I've not had problems with them. |
