I’m 5’11” (180 cm) so at least this driver should see the top of my head before running me over.

I see Dud people!

@davidho I'm only 5'8" (ish!), so I'd not even be noticed! Nor would my car, come to that.

tschenkel

@davidho what does it say on the bonnet of that thing?

Bodling

@tschenkel @davidho I think it says "Super Duty" (so much more macho than mere Heavy Duty)

kat

@davidho only if they are paying attention

So Julia

@davidho I shuddered and nearly puked. Absolutely terrifying.

Hot Dog Water

@davidho

No better way for 5’3” bulldog dads and 5’1” soccer moms to jaunt around daily in.

@davidho We probably should start a federal agency to make rules for highway safety.

Jay

@davidho Wearing a banana shirt for scale?

@davidho If it was a newer truck, at least it would have ADAS, which would help seeing short things.
I'm working why anyone living on the islands would even want one. Definitely a mainlander.

@Ralph058 @davidho You'd be surprised at the variety of people who want those ugly things.

I wish it was one particular segment, but seeing how many they're selling (and who I've seen driving them), it can't be.

@mzedp @davidho I saw the stereotype the last time I went for a grocery pickup. The store has a row of parking spaces for those who ordered on line.
The guy pulled in with the Ram 3500 Super Duty and parked in one of the pickup spaces with his pickup.
At any rate, he was short and had a bit of a problem climbing down.
The tail end of the truck was two feet into they aisle. I was kinda hoping another would have come along and tried to go up the aisle because it wouldn't have fit.

@Ralph058 @mzedp @davidho
They don't fit most spaces. And then you get a driver who stops three or four feet back from the end of the space, and sticks out 4 feet into the lane...

Michael Gemar

@davidho I don’t understand why there aren’t regulations about this.

@c0debabe @DeliaChristina @davidho

Tbh the ones around here aren’t stopping whether they see a person or not. Back when I still rode my bike on the streets I had a few times they tried to whack me with the mirrors when they went by, or coal-rolled me.

I have a very hard time being objective about big pickups anymore.

Delia Christina

@scottwillsey

I don't understand why trucks need to be this big on residential streets just to run errands.

Scott Willsey

@DeliaChristina yeah, I sure wish Americans would rethink this strategy 🙁

@c0debabe @DeliaChristina @davidho
You get one behind you and all you can see is grill.

@davidho wear brightly colored helium balloon to add height and visibility

Galad

@davidho States should start requiring people to get CDLs to drive these oversized trucks.

@LazaroDTormes @davidho
Trolling is not good. This is not about Chiquita.

Jason Sando

@davidho Simple, we just need to hand out those orange flags that dune buggies use to all pedestrians!

P J Evans

@davidho
I feel that trucks that size should require a CDL. (I saw one with a van behind it. You couldn't see the van from in front of the truck.)

Earthling

@davidho People who drive trucks that large are overcompensating for their own smallness.

Miguel Manalo

@davidho I’m 5’5” (165cm). I’m fucked.

Amy Dentata

@davidho it should be legal to slash the tires on vehicles like that

Kierkrampusgaanks regretfully

@davidho look at that car! He must have a massive cock!

Jigme Datse

@davidho Yeah, I've been seeing this, and I was walking down the street, and at I think 5'8" I was... "Man I can barely have my chin at the front of the hood...

Lord Goose 🪿

@davidho I'm 5'2" (157 cm) and apparently guaranteed to be a speed bump if I ever encounter one of these things

sleepy62

@davidho I was at a gas station a couple of weeks back and someone had a step ladder out just to check his oil!
