To give more detail: a common technique among racists is saying that they don't hate all members of the target minority, only ones who do [something innocuous that the racists choose to hate]. For example, throughout Europe, Islamophobia manifests itself in anti-hijabi discrimination. Anti-Semitism, likewise, demands that the Jews shrink and reduce themselves to make Christians and Muslims feel better.
