The #hyprland community has established a foothold for abhorrent behavior in the greater Linux desktop community, and is a welcoming home for assholes, nazis, transphobes, and bigots of all kinds. @drewdevault I would very much like to see a fork, but I have neither the knowledge nor energy to make that happen myself. Which is unfortunate considering it appears to be the only Wayland tiling wm with a layout which works well on my monitor.

@drewdevault It's honestly really disheartening. Looking through some of the response from that community to the posts, it's disgusting and the ban is even more justified.

@drewdevault hmm so what would that fence look like in practice? Eg. every time someone reports a wlroots issue, you'd check if that person also opened or commented on issues in hyperland, and if so, ban that person?

@drewdevault Hopefully, this action will trigger more bans and blocks and exclusions of that toxic community. I'm sad to see that Vaxry has not improved in response to earlier push-back. He has certainly been given plenty of chances. The blog post he published is vile. He displays a total willful ignorance to the idea that his behaviour as an individual will and should be associated with the Hyprland project.

@drewdevault Why do you generalize? I compiled hyprland from source, submitted a PR, submitted a PR to the awesome Hyprland link list. Am I now also abhorrent? Or do I need to develop a hyprland loadable module first? What actually has using / contributimg a software to do with being called abhorrent? Or r with actual abhorrent behavior?

@drewdevault A lot of evil people make valuable things. Most such things eventually turn to poop because, communities of imagination cannot be built on hate. Sadly, much of current tech is only, just that.
