 Status: "broadband" connection is smoking. I put "broadband" in quotes because in the middle of this technology desert called Silicon Valley, I have a choice of exactly two broadband providers, and the one that has the less-horrible privacy policy has date rates that were last acceptable maybe last century. 10 comments

A couple months, supposedly. @jimfenton @jamesmarshall Iβm in a itβs-beautiful-all-the-wires-are-underground-and-Iβll-never-get-fiber neighborhood. @J12t @jamesmarshall Service to our house is underground and thereβs a string they can use to pull additional cables. I imagine they do the same elsewhere. @jimfenton @jamesmarshall Whose conduit is that? Because my phone cables come diagonally out of the ground as if somebody very amateur didn't measure the length correctly and sort of just cemented them crossing them through the air into the garage wall. No conduit to be found there. @J12t @jamesmarshall We (and our next door neighbors) had the conduits installed when the neighbors renovated their house and had to underground their utilities.  |
