I can't find anything about optional parameters in the tutorial or git logs, any resources about it?

@gloopsies has not been added to the tutorial yet, but it's in the specification

Short answer is you can provide a default value for the last parameter(s) of a function signature so long as the default values can be determined at compile-time (which has a special meaning in hare)
