This article was back in 2017, but the statement holds true.
Simply put, the only reason anyone even touches Saudi Arabia or the UAE as a whole anymore is money. Whether it be FIDE, the PGA, WWE, or other such groups, the moral bankruptcy is readily on display, with fiduciary solvency read as their chief -- and frequently sole -- excuse.
