After a whole winter of getting up in the dark to do weight training, I feel it was well worth it as my back pain is gone, I sleep better and feel more overall physically capable. I have a month left of gym membership and plan to make use of it as much as I physically can before its expiration, and our casting off.

@neauoire thanks for sharing this. The weight room is my happy place, but I don’t talk about it much because I don’t want to come off like a huge bro (in the bad sense). So it’s always nice to see cool people enjoy resistance training.

@neauoire Do you indulge in indoor rowing? Does wonders with lower-back pain. When properly executed of course.

Devil Lu Linvega

@sudonymouse yup! 200 calories of rowing machine every morning :)

@neauoire holy shit you got to 20 ? hell yes ! 20 without coming down ?

Devil Lu Linvega

@fleeky yeah, I've been able to do it for a while, but I'm trying to be able to do them slowly, in control, taking my breath as I go. Right now I get to 20 by doing the last few in a hurry, while loosing my grip.

My goal before we cast is that I can them all, from an extended hang position, without running out of breath, without doing them last few in a hurry :)

@neauoire i've been having a ton of motivation issues lately but hearing this gives me inspiration to keep going. thanks :)

@fleeky I was able to get two of our friends from the marina to come with me every second day, and they've been pretty good at showing up. That has been really good to getting me out of bed at 6am

@neauoire i am also consistently amazed at people who do this, i wake up at 7:30 or so but i still need a bunch of coffee to just wake up and start thinking. what is your morning routine like?

Devil Lu Linvega

@fleeky 6:00 gym until 7:30, shower, breakfast, coffee, emails, errands

flaeky pancako

@neauoire have you ever thought of trying to learn or do a muscle up?

Devil Lu Linvega

@fleeky Oh, no. This is the first time I hear about this, that looks hard as hell. I have a few more weeks where I can practice this, I'll definitely try it out tomorrow morning

@neauoire maybe you do not have the specific muscles developed , but i figure if you can do 20 pullups you have a good base for learning it :)

good luck !

Devil Lu Linvega

@fleeky cheers! thanks for the tips, I'll work my way to it if I can't right now.

@neauoire Same! My wife and I have been going to a gym for almost a year now and we feel SO much better. It’s the first exercise regimen that has really stuck for us. Luckily our house isn’t as mobile as yours so we won’t have to cancel anytime soon!

Devil Lu Linvega

@dcreager I'm glad to hear :) In the summer, while we don't have access to a gym, we make due with hiking and climbing.
