if you wanna see some really interesting UI, take a look at the apple sports bracket tool: apple.news/T66S-CD04QbyWrYlxE6

@samhenrigold screenshot for those of us that can’t use Apple News?

@samhenrigold a little but janky but really ingenious

@BenRiceM it’s all web UI! all of those apple news features are just little web views

@nileane i need the CSS guru to weigh in on this. what witchcraft is going on here that they're able to do this in a web view. i can't even wrap my head around how this layout would work

@samhenrigold @BenRiceM ironically it crashes News on the Mac 50% of the time 😂

@keir @BenRiceM it's suuuper buggy on the mac. doesn't even respond to scroll events, solely drag events

@thillsman I've been thinking about this UI on and off throughout the day and I have no idea how they're even doing this in a web view. Aside from “brute force” methods like drawing it all in a canvas or manually positioning nodes.

@samhenrigold not working great on the macOS version of Apple News though, oof

@alex weird, works here. i had to navigate to the sports tab > march madness button under the header > click the bracket section second from the top

@samhenrigold If you mess with the timeline (?) at the top it all starts to fall about over here
