starting to work on a new project with some friends, and was reminded of this illustration i did 11 years ago, to the tune of a very short story written by jodorowsky

The Spiders with No Memory

Nobody knows why the spiders forgot how to weave their webs. They became frantic, their legs became stronger, and they learned to dig out underground chambers. But they didn’t belong in the dark. They felt an inexplicable itch in their legs and they incessantly made warping gestures. They started to make webs that weren’t round, or sticky, or sheer, or useful to catch insects, and with pride they called them “arcane”. They were collected in museums, and later in temples. Suddenly, one spider recovered its memory and began to weave a round web, sticky and sheer, in a corner of the central tunnel. The other spiders made a great ruckus; they destroyed this “abberation” and killed the citizen for daring to litter the city.
