@dgar
Competitive = what we can get away with

@dgar I never understood this. I don't want a "competitive wage" sod that. I want the clear winning wage. the untouchably brilliant wage. Not some wage that "tries but never quite get's there".

@madelainetaylor @dgar Once employers started asking *me* what *I'm* currently earning, THEN I wanted a competitive wage – because the next job would pay poorly otherwise

@dgar I always laugh when I see 'competitive wages.' Like, motherfuckers, you pay minimum wage plus a nickel stfu.

@dgar Why would anyone apply for a job that doesn’t advertise the salary?

@dgar @donmelton this is sadly so true.

A few decades ago I worked for a big tech firm (a large outsourcer) they offered me an “opportunity” for specialized training and then a new assignment for a new client.

However they expected me to choose to move for the training, then move for the assignment, and do all that without knowing what my new salary would be.

(It was the 1990’s web 1 tech boom, I quit that job not long after for a new one that paid 30+ % more without a move needed)

@dgar lol, "Competitive Salary" usually means dire.

@dgar +9001%

I refuse to apply for positions where HR refuses to put a number on the salary.
