A winter woodland. The sparse trees are bare, their leaves now brown and covering the ground. The focus of the picture is an old tree, green with moss, with a chunky trunk which divides neatly into a Y. At the crotch of the Y, a black cat sits upright, looking longingly at the upper branches.
