@rek This is what I use when need backup on rappel.

One of my favorites.

dok

@rek That's what I use to rappel, when climbing (but with a double fisherman's knot to join the cordelette)

@dok oh yea i just did a quick knot to make a loop, zero attention paid to that (was focusing on the main knot) Maybe ill add a note saying that ^^;;;... or possibly redo it and take the time to make a good load-bearing loop~

dok

@rek I noticed ;)
but I think that's fine.
I didn't knew about the name origin and it sucks

R E K

ignore the little knot i used to close the loop ^^;;, just made a quick knot to showcase the main friction hitch (a better knot ought to be used to make a loop, like a double fisherman's knot)

R E K

Made a new image with the proper closing knot for the loop, a double fisherman's knot.

a friction hitch made from red paracord coiled around a tablet pen, the loop is terminated by a double fisherman's knot.

@rek some way down the rabbithole, TIL that "In British nautical usage, the bitter end is the ship end of the anchor cable, secured by the anchor bitts and the bitter pin in the cable locker"
